The Old Guitarist

From The Blue Guitar suite
Signed etching with aquatint from the main edition of 200, This suite of etchings was inspired by a poem by Wallace Stevens, who had drawn inspiration from Picasso's painting The Old Guitarist.
Printed in London and New York at the Petersburg Studios.
Published by Petersburg Press as both a print portfolio and a book. Hockney created the images to accompany the book-length poem, The Man with the Blue Guitar (1937) by Modernist American poet Wallace Stevens.
